Ferret Diseases

Ferrets can be prone to disease just like every other creature on the planet. There are a fair number of them but here I will only touch on a couple of most common ailments:

  • DISTEMPER - Ferrets are susceptible to this Air-borne virus and MUST be vaccinated every 12 months.
  • COLDS & FLU - Ferrets can catch these easily from human and the best way to protect them is to minimize contact . If you have to handle them then wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Gingivitis & Gum Disease - Teeth and gum issues can easily be reduced by feeding your ferret food that they have to chew. This helps clean their teeth. Biscuits and bones are good in this aspect.

I'll add more as they come to light
